The main aim of this paper is to analyse the different proposals on constant prices estimates suggested both by the European System of National and Regional Accounts. 1995 (ESA95), as well as in recent regulations of the European Commission in the framework of the Stability and Growth Pact. Some specific aspects are given particular attention, including the use of chain-linking series instead of the fixed-base series and the use of the Input Output framework as a way to integrate current and constant prices estimates. The analysis is carried out from the perspective of the Spanish National Accounts System.
