In this paper we extend the value added variables from the Contabilidad Regional de España (CRE) to the period 1964-1979, using the information contained in Renta Nacional de España y su Distribución Provincial (Fundación BBV). The new estimated variables, corresponding to four sectors (agriculture, industry, construction and services), take into account the different evolution of prices in each region and their sectorial composition at the production level. Since these variables are expressed in real terms, in contrast to the data of the Fundación BBV, we can make intertemporal comparisons among regions, which we find to be affected by differences in the performance of regional prices. In particular, when we analyse the economic growth process, both in per capita and in productivity terms, we find that an important part of the observed differences in the regional rates of growth can be explained by the performance of relative prices in the four sectors under consideration. The use of different regional deflactors also increases the convergence process, which seems to be more intense than when a national deflactor for all regions, which is the common approach followed in the literature.
